Shabbat Shalom

Do clothes make the ‘man’?  Or, to paraphrase (re the vestments), do clothes make the cohen/priest?  According to this week’s Torah portion, Tetzaveh, the answer is ‘yes’! Tetzaveh describes the garb that the High Priest was to wear in service in the Temple and the initiation rites of the cohanim/priests.

A kavannah for Parashat Tetzaveh

There is “clothing” that is provided for us, and “clothing” that we choose for ourselves. May the clothing provided for us be that of blessing, and the one we choose for ourselves be the garb of holiness

*This Shabbat before Purim during which we remember Haman (the Amalakite’s) plot to destroy the Jewish people, is known as Shabbat Zachor - the Sabbath of Remembering - as the weekly parasha is supplemented with the Zachor reading (Deuteronomy 25:17-19) and we are commanded to both remember the evil of Amalek and eradicate evil from the world.

Kehillah’s participatory, hilarious interpretative Megillah reading and celebration will be this SATURDAY NIGHT at 7:30 PM. Hope you RSVP’d.  Sorry that we cannot take walk-ins because of the dinner and elaborate set up.

Please take a moment to paste the following link into your browser so you can hear an incredible statement of the Jewish future by new Knesset Member, Ruth Calderon. It’s pretty short and exceptional!  I’d love to hear your thoughts.
